Cotton Batting Girl

Years ago I used to make cotton batting ornaments just like the vintage ones . The other day I found some vintage batting at an antique sale and thought I would try making them again this year. It took me all afternoon to make one but I think I'm finally figuring out how to make them quicker...

Shop...Shop...Shop!

Thanks to all of you who came shopping today.
It was a fun and festive day in Snohomish and at Joyworks.

I think it is too bad that they call it Black Friday because it sounds so gloomy...actually we sell lots of red and glitter...

We don't want to call it Red Friday but maybe can we call it Glitter Friday.
I thinks that sounds much better...

The House that Lane Built

When we went to the Atlanta Gift Show last January I saw this conservatory made out of old windows and thought that it would be fun to build one for the store.

My brother Lane was the perfect guy for the job with a little help from my Dad. I gave him a picture of my inspiration piece and we found a bunch of old windows. We wanted it to fit onto a table and to be tall enough to house a shelf inside for display.

I love it!

Lane also made a little garden house for the window display which everybody loves. I think he might have to make some to sell...

Thank you Lane and Dad for making the store look extra special for the holidays!

Shiny Brite Makeover

I love all the colors of Shiny Brites but in my house I tend to use mostly silver.

Today I bought two boxes of ornaments and simply rinsed some of the blue and red ones in hot water and the color comes right off leaving a vintage mercury silver look. If a little water gets inside the ball don't worry... it just takes off a little of the silver and creates an aged look.

So pretty...

Junk Swap

Last night I went to a very fun Junk Swap party. Everybody brings two pieces of good junk and it all goes on one table. We then draw numbers to determine the order of when you get to visit the junk table. I was so excited to get this wonderful paper wreath made by Trish. A couple of us had also considered making one to bring but thought in the end it was too much work with the glue gun. I've had a couple bad burns this year and I'm sorry to say that poor Trish still had blisters on her finger tips...
If you are adventurous and would like to give one a try go here.

The Star of the Party...

Was the Food!

We were so lucky to have Wendy Perez from Eclectic Expression Catering -wperezecex@comcast.net- cater our anniversary party for us. She went above and beyond creating the most beautiful and delicious appetizers and desserts.
Thank you Wendy...you are a delight!
My sister Amy on the left and Wendy on the right worked together as a team making everything look perfect.

Our guests were greeted with stuffed mushrooms, ham and cheese pastries, veggie cups, blue cheese stuffed olives, chicken skewers, and bread with basil butter...

Downstairs we had stuffed tomatoes, meatballs, and chocolate genache topped with fresh raspberries.

The harvest table was overflowing with peanut butter fudge, cheesecake squares, chocolate covered pretzels, spiced walnuts and cookies.

To top off the yummy treats we had peppermint bark, and marshmallows dipped in chocolate and nuts, little lemon cakes and mini cupcakes from New York Cupcakes.

I would like to thank sweet Elise from Elise Marie Photography for her beautiful pictures. I will share many more of her pictures from our party over the next few weeks.
