It was so fun and special to meet Charlotte Smith the author of Dreaming of Chanel and hear her story. She inherited in 2004 a collection consisting of around 3,500 garments dating from 1790 to 1995 from her Godmother Doris. Along with the dresses were a collection of journals which told the women's stories of all the pieces in the collection. In the book you will find an illustration of the outfit and the story of the woman who owned it ...so fun to read. It really made us look at clothes in a new way... We all have our favorite dress or outfit that we just can't part with because of the story and memory attached to it
The Chanel suit is one of the 20th century's most iconic garments. Seen by many as the epitome of style, its classic silhouette is instantly recognisable, and yet owning one is for most women only a dream. Dreaming of Chanel is about the dreams attached to pieces of clothing, whether they are made by famous designers or unknown dressmakers.
We loved seeing a few of the dresses in her collection which she has grown to over 7,000 pieces.
Of course for me a trip to Vegas isn't complete without a visit to Chanel.
I'm still dreaming...
