Rhinestones...

A rhinestone or paste or diamante is a diamond simulant made from rock crystal, glass or acrylic.

We love these new 24 inch rhinestone, pearl, and vintage inspired crystal necklaces that just came in.

Originally, rhinestones were rock crystals gathered from the river Rhine. The availability was greatly increased when around 1775 the Alsatian jeweller Georg Friedrich Strass had the idea to imitate diamonds by coating the lower side of glass with metal powder. Hence, rhinestones are called Strass in many European languages.

Rhinestones may be used as imitations of diamonds, and some manufacturers even manage to reproduce the glistening effect real diamonds have in the sun.

Liberal use of rhinestones was associated with country music singers, as well as with singer Elvis Presley and pianist Liberace. In 1975 Glen Campbell had a top hit with the song Rhinestone Cowboy, and became known as the "Rhinestone Cowboy". That song served as the basis for the 1984 movie Rhinestone, starring Sylvester Stallone and Dolly Parton.
Speaking of Country Music...I went to see Carrie Underwood this weekend...she was so good!

A Grand Adventure

I have always wanted to take a helicopter from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon.
Dean and I decided to treat ourselves this year for our birthdays...

A limo came to pick us up at our hotel and take us to the airport. On the way we stopped and picked up a girl from India who was in Vegas for a conference. We were so excited to get to visit with her because we are planning to go to India in a couple of years.

While we were waiting for our helicopter to be ready, our new friend Mandavi from Mumbai, came over in shock and told us that her assinged helicopter had a broken air conditioner and they wanted to reschedule for later that day. She was so sad because she was leaving that evening and would not be able go...
We felt very bad for her and were trying to figure out how we could help. Dean decided he would give her his seat because he could go another time and this was Mandavi's only chance. She was so thankful for the offer and the helicopter company quickly made the transfer.

So off we went...very exciting!

Lake Mead...

Hoover Dam...

Grand Canyon...

At the end of the day I had a Grand Adventure...and Dean made a Grand Gesture!
A win win for both of us!

Fashion for Spring

With the weather a little unpredictable lately you need a great light weight coat like this pink one by Appraisal ($45.99) and a great accessory would be this oilcloth tote by Murval which is rain repellant ($19.99). Also a must is a new handbag for spring and why not go with a bold color like pink or green. We have a great line of handbags like this pink purse with the unique zipper and ruffles that are so in right now ($63.99).

The Black with green trim is also by Murval, but is canvas (21.99).

If you want just a little boldness or bling why not try this green watch with swarovski crystals($21.99) or a fun ring for $14.99. We have lots of fun colors perfect for any outfit.

The fun sandals by Sunny Feet for $16.99 also come in turqouise and white and the open toed pink shoes with a ruffle detail comes in black, grey and red for $17.99.

Love the green purse. I bought it in gray ($39.99).

Don't wait and come in for a new look for spring.

Jana's In Vegas

Jana has left for Vegas for a fun getaway with her hubby and has left me to the blogging. What to do? No birthdays to share with you, no new freight and the Street Faire is over. So, as I was pondering what to post this morning with my morning cup of coffee, I noticed a little hummingbird fly past and check out my feeder. He didn't stay long, but I was glad to have my first summer sighting. I have been waiting for them to return as I really enjoy watching them.

I recently visited Tucson, Arizona and got to tour the High Desert Museum which has a Hummingbird Aviary. I could of sat in there all day and watched the hundreds of hummingbirds flying around with no concern regarding all the people watching them. I literally stood within a foot of a Mom on her nest and took pictures. So I'm sharing a few with you today and I hope you enjoy these amazing little creatures as much as I do.

If you look closely, you can see the babies in the nest which is approximately 2" wide.

Aren't the colors amazing ?

Lets hope for some amazing freight to come in tomorrow, so that I can share with you.

Snohomish Antique and Arts Faire

What a beautiful and fun day!
It is so nice for us because we set up the booth in the street right in front of the store.
This year our booth's theme was ~Recycle Chic~.
We repurposed windows,newspaper,wire fencing,doors,coffee bags,kitchen items,etc...

A cute paper flower chandelier we made to hang in the middle of the tent.

Everybody loved our mannequin in her adorable newspaper dress...

My brother Lane is making these great garden green houses out of vintage windows.

Kim planted flowers, herbs, and sedums in very clever ways. She used silver bowls, mailboxes, bowls, tool boxes, tea cups, etc...

Jill made awesome pillows and bags out of coffee bags.

This year I took some my paintings and photos and put them on canvas. I also sold vintage items that I collected especially for the event.

At the end of the day Peter our local sign guy brought us these new destination signs designed especially for Snohomish.

For more pictures of our booth please Shelly at Bungalow Bling
It was a lot of extra work for our Joywork Family and I would like to thank everyone who helped us create a special experience and a Very Cute Booth!
