Bottles and Beauties

Today I attempted to make some bottles with shell toppers. The big shell was a little complicated and I'm not quite sure if I'll make another....however it did turn out pretty cute.

We are always looking for new items to add to our beach area...love these bathing beauties!

Snohomish Car Show

Today I helped count the fun class ballots for the car show...things like best fins, best flames, best chrome, best make out car... Cars aren't my thing but I have to admit I think some of them are pretty cool. We had over 650 cars that showed up on this beautiful day and the town was full of people having a great time.

Fall into Frames

Today I looked around the store and noticed we had all these pretty frames and thought that I should put something with a fall theme in them. I found a leaf and some old paper and quickly put it together. Then I decided that it would be cute with a word on the leaf. I cut the word "Blessings" out of a catalog and attached it to the leaf with glue. We all thought it turned out quite nice and that I should make some more... Framing vintage postcards is also an easy way to make an instant holiday picture.

At Joyworks we carry these vintage inspired metal letters for $1.99 each. Create names and words by stringing with a ribbon.

Glitter Pumpkins

A great way to make your fall display sparkle is to completely glitter small pumpkins. You can use real or artificial pumpkins for this easy craft. First cover the whole surface with glue and sprinkle generously with fine glitter. We have found that the Martha Stewart line has the best glitter with many beautiful colors to choose from.

Weekend Getaway

This weekend I went to see my friend Cathie at her new house with a wonderful view!

After a day of shopping we stopped by to get a bunch of flowers from her favorite stand. I just had to take a picture because I thought it was so sweet...

Today she took me into her garage and showed me her new bike...could it be any cuter... I even got to take the cruiser for a spin.

We had a wonderful time visiting, eating, crafting, shopping, beach walking and watching movies. It was the perfect girl weekend.

If the Glove Fits...

At Joyworks we have the cutest gloves in many styles and colors...We love gloves!!
This year we have the trendy fingerless gloves which are so warm and cozy. The gloves are available in many colors all in stretch fabrics which fit most hand sizes. The finishing details are very vintage with bows, scallops and beading. Most of the gloves are priced around $9.00 making them very affordable. Many of our customers buy one or two pairs for themselves and love them so much that they come back to buy them for their friends and family--they make great gifts.

I would like the thank my hand models for all their hard work...it's much more difficult than it looks...

Vintage Music Flowers

A few people have asked me how to make the paper flowers. I've made them with vintage music but they also look cute made out of newsprint. It's basically the old tissue flower fold...

At Joyworks we have a variety of wired tinsel which is a nice twist to use for the stems. I will also be selling music from my large roll. The paper is a little thinner than sheet music and works great when making the flowers.

Crafting Zone

Once I get started crafting and get in the zone--I can't stop. Yesterday I had this idea to make a paper mache pumpkin out of vintage music....then I wondered what a plastic pumpkin would look like painted gold...then I was trying to figure out what to do with my skeleton heads...then I made a flower out of vintage music and put glitter on the edges... I must stop now and clean up this mess I've made!

Pretty in Pink

Yesterday at the flea market I found my Halloween costume...too cute! I'm going to be a princess in this sparkling pink dress with silver sequins and matching tiara.

A couple of years ago I painted a plastic pumpkin pink and I'm glad I still have it...it matches perfectly!

Paint your drawers

My neighbor was throwing away a desk the other day and I said I'll take the drawers... I didn't know what I would do with them but I knew I that someday I would think of something. Somewhere I saw a drawer with the inside painted like a chalkboard and I thought what a great idea. I took some chalkboard paint and painted the inside and painted the outside white. They also would be great to use for a shadow box which you could fill with your collectibles.
