Forced...

Every year I force Narcissus "Paperwhite" bulbs.

They take 3-6 weeks to bloom after they are planted.

This year since I couldn't wait...I forced the forced... I added some silk Paperwhite stems to my jars filled with bulbs.

They look real and we sell them at Joyworks for $1.99 a stem.

A Well Written Script

For the last few years I have been drawn to anything with vintage writing on it.

My parents gave me this cute ottoman for Christmas...Love it!

And these great pillow cases...

I bought home this pillow from Joyworks...I'm hoping to find more for the shop at the Atlanta Gift Show in January.

I found this saying and thought this was the perfect script for me... :)

Busy Days...

There is a lot to do during the Christmas Season.
The store has been busy...Thank you to all our wonderful and loyal customers who have made us part of their Christmas tradition over the years.

I've decorated and decorated and decorated...
My shopping is done...
I've been eating lots of cookies...

I've been receiving many Christmas Cards...

Now I just have to wrap presents.

Branch Out...

I love using vintage aluminum tree branches in arrangements. You can pick them up inexpensively at flea markets and antique shops.

This year I wired two together and made a simple wreath which looks cute hanging on a mirror in my living room.

Down Gingerbread Lane

When I was a little girl and into adulthood one of our family traditions was to decorate cookies with my Great Aunts.. Aunt Gertie and Aunt Peg.
We haven't decorated for a few years and I have missed it... so last night when I saw this wonderful assortment of cookies at a dessert auction I had to bid on it.

Aren't they cute...I love all the clothes made out of candy!

Since I don't need to eat them all I am going to preserve them to put on a Christmas tree at Joyworks next year...always thinking ahead.

Joyworks and many stores in town will be open until 8:00pm tonight so come on by for a cookie.

Tacky Holiday Sweater

Tomorrow night I am going to my husband's office party...
A Tacky Holiday Sweater Extravaganza!
I've been looking for a vintage sweater and tonight I found one that I could work with and make "good tacky."

I added a beautiful vintage corsage...

The flowers kind of look like poinsettias...I'll just add some glitter, tinsel, and glass beads.

And some jingle bells on the pockets...

Add some wacky accessories and I'm ready to Party!

Joyworks Christmas Party

This year we went to Luanne Ren's house first.

Her house was decorated so cute and we loved looking at all her collections.
Luanne has worked at Joyworks for over 25 years and it was like going down memory lane as we kept seeing things that we had sold at Joyworks over the years.

Even the appetizers were cute...

For dinner and presents we went to Luanne's daughter Kim's house.

Kim is also a collector of snowmen and had her house decorated beautifully.

We all loved the idea of putting a long mirror down the center of her table and decorating it with white trees, mica, and candles.

All of us Joyworks gals had a fabulous time...I can't believe that I didn't get any pictures of us... :)

We even had a great dinner and dessert...once again no pictures...

Thank you Luanne and Kim for making us feel so welcome in your homes.
