Winging It

Yesterday Jill and I created a garden and cherub Christmas display that turned out beautifully. We used glittering urns and ornaments to really make it sparkle. I usually have an idea in mind and it's always a joy when it turns out just like I imagined.

House of Glitter

This time of year glitter seems to be everywhere our little house. Even my poor husband has glitter on his face.
Tonight I put on my vintage Christmas apron to get me in the mood...for crafting!

Over the years I have collected vintage Christmas craft supplies and have plenty to work with.

Here are a few little things I've made so far...

Kicking Around Ideas

Mondays are my day off and today just happens to be raining which is a perfect day for crafting. I'm just hanging out this morning thinking of things I can make for our upcoming party at Joyworks on November 13th.

I went to the Fremont Market yesterday and picked up these great wallpaper sheets taken from a sample book....so pretty. We then shopped around and I found some crowns and other paper goods...hmmm... what can I make...

The sad part is I'd rather go shopping and buy a fun dress to go with my new vintage cowboy boots...

Tickeled Pink

Tonight I went to the Funky Junk Sisters antique show with some girlfriends for the Girl's Night Out Breast Cancer Awareness Event.
Many of the booths were decorated with touches of pink and we even received pink boas at the door...very festive!

Another cute display by Retreat

We had a great time and I even won a special prize in the drawing.
I love to win...and was very excited to be presented with this wonderful doll. Michell Renee donated a boudoir doll in honor of her beautiful aunt,Susan Dale. Susan is an eight time breast cancer survivor and is now fighting it for the ninth time.
I was very glad that I got to meet Aunt Susan and give her a hug...I can't even imagine how hard it has been for her...

Full of Good Humor

The theme of this tree is "Jollytime", but we are trying not to rush Christmas for those of you that are not quite ready. So I looked up the word "jolly" in the dictionary and it says "Full of good humor".

Jana and I worked on this area of the store for two days together and I can honestly say we are "full of good humor". While I do the tree she does the displays all around me. We come up with the same ideas alot of the time and other times laugh at each others ideas. We have alot of trial and error, but we do make a great team and we do have alot of fun together. Thank you Jana for your visions on the trees and for allowing me to put them together.

The tree is full of santas, snowmen, reindeer and cute little red and white polka dot ornaments, which are really place card holders. How cute are they with the ribbon? The silver tinsel really pulled it all together. The topper is a vintage light up Santa which is perfect for the tree. Jana has quite a collection of vintage light ups which we used in the displays. (sorry, guys they are not for sale)

Gifts of "Goodwill"

Yesterday two our our very good friends from a local establishment (who wanted to remain anonymous) surprised Jana and I with pictures they had found at the Goodwill for $3.99 each. They said they reminded them of us and that they just couldn't resist. Plus it was pink tag day, so they were half price. Out came the glitter and with there talent, look how cute they made them with a little embellishment. So, so cute and perfect for Jana and I.

They are signed by a V.Biggers. If anyone knows who this person is, we'd love to here from you.

Jana with her glittered bouquet. So,so cute.

This is so me with the darling kitty and check out the jeweled collar.

Thank you dear friends. We will proudly display them.

No Bake Cupcakes

This year we are decorating a cupcake themed tree for Christmas. We were able to purchase quite a few cute cupcake ornaments but to fill the tree I knew I would need to make a few more.

My husband came up with the idea to use an Insulating Foam Sealant to make my cupcake ornaments. Tonight we gave it a try and it worked pretty good...after a few trial and errors...

I painted the tops, embellished, and glittered.

Creative Process

Let's talk turkey...
The other night I was trying to come up with something crafty for Thanksgiving and making this turkey popped into my head. I grabbed some music sheets, scissors, and the glue gun and got to work. I liked the concept but thought I could make it better.

I played with the idea a bit today and used vintage ledger paper and glitter...

I'm now thinking that I still kind of like the music better and maybe I could use real little white pumpkins... stay tuned...any ideas...

Love me, love my dog

At Joyworks we always do a Christmas tree with adorable dog ornaments.
This year we decided to decorate the tree surrounded by vintage paint by number dog paintings.

We carry a nice assortment of Old World glass dog ornaments.

We don't have a dog of our own to love but when my mother in law is home for the summer we enjoy playing with her two chihuahuas.... I just keep forgetting not to wear black to her house...fur everywhere!

Dean had one on both sides of him but I couldn't get my camera in time...

Howdy Neighbor

I am so blessed to live between neighbors who have wonderful gardens. Yesterday Bob came over and brought us some corn. We then wandered into their yard to say "Hi!" to his wife Judy and she let me pick some of her beautiful hydrangeas and gave me a freshly picked tomato.
I quickly made an arrangement out of the hydrangeas and took this picture. I think it will make a cute thank-you card...a nice personal touch.

Antique show

Today I went to the Sand Point Antique Show for fun and inspiration.
I love how the vendors decorated with fall leaves, pumpkins, and owls.
I must be into owls this year...

Debbie from Ormolulu always has beautiful displays.

Jill looked so cute standing next to this pink bed in the Queen of Tarte's booth.

It was great fun to see the girls from Salvage Studio. They are so creative in finding ways to turn junk into treasures. I couldn't resist the door knob made into a photo holder.
Jill bought this large sphere for her garden made out of metal barrel rings.

It's fun to run into fellow junkers!

When I get home from these shows I always get in the mood to make something...
This little guy just makes me laugh...

This pumpkin bouquet made my day...

Pretty Fun Fabrics

Today we received in another shipment from Funktion. They make the cutest aprons with great vintage inspired fabrics.

This time we also ordered some fabric napkins in very fun prints which you can use for a splash of color.

They make me happy...
