Traveling Display

I bought this cute vintage suitcase at the Fremont Market and knew it would be great for a summer display. First I filled it with a sand pail full of geraniums and then added beach photos, stars, and shells. Vintage suitcases are very fun to decorate with so keep an eye out for them in your travels.

We had such fun visiting Joyworks yesterday. My friend commented that it truly was a perfect name for the store because it is filled with such "joy!" I must agree. We each found several treasures including two little wooden hangers from this "Traveling Display." They are destined to become part of my decor for our 2009 Fourth of July Celebration. For the past thirteen years we have celebrated at our summer home in White Salmon. We always attend the parade in Hood River, enjoy, cycling, windsurfing or visiting the local farms on the infamous "Fruit Loop" during the day and host a dinner celebration in the evening that includes watching the fireworks over the Columbia River from our front lawn. I can't tell you how many items from your store have been included among the years - red gingham bordered flag plates, polka-dot and striped paper lanterns, tin stars, twig stars and vintage paper decorations, just to name a few. I think these hangers will be great to incorporate in the table decor. I'll serve the salads and sides in buckets and pails and I know I have a miniature Radio Flyer wagon and wheelbarrow somewhere that will fit in too. Thank you for the countless contributions you have made to the decor, favors and festivities throughout the years. I am always inspired by your creativity in displaying your amazing selection of goods. I can't wait for the next visit. Gayle (Cherrypit)
